What Is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition that is noted for widespread pain and fatigue with no apparent underlying cause. Symptoms often begin appearing, but not exclusively after, an injury or physical trauma.

What Are The Symptoms of Fibromyalgia?

Symptoms most commonly associated with Fibromyalgia include:

  • Widespread pain. The pain associated with this condition is most often described as a constant, dull ache that lasts/exceeds a span of three months. For pain to be considered widespread it must occur on both sides of the body, both above and below the waist.
  • Fatigue. Due to the effects of chronic pain, many with fibromyalgia often wake up feeling tired due to sleep being disrupted by flare-ups of pain in parts of the body.
  • Cognitive difficulties. Also known as “fibro fog” where a person with fibromyalgia has trouble focusing and concentrating on mental tasks.
